The relaxed, conversational approach means there’s no need to worry about tests or workbook exercises. A language guidebook is provided with several conversation topics that the club works through together each week. Because this club is an exchange of languages and culture, instruction is given in English and there is plenty of Estonian spoken as well to clarify new terms.

The material for this club was developed to meet the needs of students and staff from JKHK preparing to go abroad with the Erasmus+ program throughout the school year. However, the club offers an open, welcoming space for anyone who wants to learn or just practice some of the basics.

Seven teachers/staff members from Särevere and six from Paide started the course in March. There are two days offered each week for convenience and practice:
•    Mondays 4pm in Paide
•    Tuesdays 4pm in Särevere.

Currently, the club will continue to meet until the end of the school year in June. Plans are underway to continue this program in the next school year by the new English language teacher, Julia Chapelle. She has joined our staff from the United States since last fall and started the English Language Exchange Club in cooperation with the school’s Erasmus+ program coordinator Merje Mölter. Since moving to Estonia, Julia started learning Estonian independently and in local community classes. She hopes to share her native language and culture while learning more Estonian so that she can communicate better with co-workers and students.

Whether you’re completing your practical work abroad or receiving training while exchanging ideas with staff partners in other schools across Europe, this club offers a place to learn and practice the most important part of any language - the ability to communicate!

An education is what you decide to make of it and we hope you’ll join us in using all the resources our school has to offer you!
